Everything homeowners ask us

How much does new siding cost?

It depends on the size of your house, the material, how much trim and how many openings there are, and what we find under the old siding. That's why we measure on site before we price anything. You get a written estimate with the scope, materials and payment plan spelled out. The estimate is free.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, through Hearth. Checking your options is a soft credit pull that takes about a minute and won't affect your credit score. There are no-money-down options and approval is fast, so your project gets on the schedule instead of waiting another year.

What does your warranty cover?

Everything we install carries a 5-year workmanship warranty. If something fails because of how we installed it, we come back and correct it at no cost. On top of that, the manufacturer's material warranty passes straight to you, and we hand over the paperwork at the final walkthrough.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We're fully licensed and insured, with General Liability and Workers' Compensation in force. Ask for a certificate of insurance and we'll send it before we start. If a crew member gets hurt on your property, that's on our policy, not your homeowner's.

Do you pull the permits?

Yes. We file them during prep, while we order materials and book the dumpster and staging. You don't have to call the building department yourself.

How long does a siding job take?

It depends on the size of the house and what's behind the old siding. Our Framingham fiber cement re-side with shake detail took four business days. You get a written start window before we begin, and the crew stays on your job until it's finished.

Do you work with general contractors and builders?

Yes. We've completed more than 162 new construction projects. We price per unit, carry General Liability and Workers' Comp, and can provide certificates naming the GC or owner as additional insured. Send us your plans and schedule.

What areas do you serve?

We're based at 180 Oxford St N in Auburn and work across Massachusetts and New England. Most of our work is in Worcester County and MetroWest, and we've built as far out as North Adams and East Otis. If you're not sure we cover your town, call and ask.

Will you clean up after yourselves?

Every day. The site gets cleared and magnet swept at the end of each workday so nails don't end up in your tires or your kid's sneakers. Your property stays protected while we work, not only when we leave.

Can I pick any siding color?

With Gentek vinyl, premium colors come at no upcharge, so you're not stuck with the cheapest shade. We bring samples to the estimate so you can see them next to your roof and trim in real daylight.

Should I replace my siding or just repair a few spots?

If the damage is limited to a few cracked or loose panels and the wall behind them is dry, a repair can make sense. Once you see soft sheathing, swelling around windows, or several elevations showing wear, patching just moves the problem around. We'll show you photos of what we find and tell you straight which one fits your house.

Can you install new siding over my old siding?

We'd rather not. A lot of 1920s to 1950s homes around here have old cedar shingle or asbestos siding sitting under a layer of vinyl. Covering it again hides rot and makes it hard to get a flat, properly flashed wall. On a free estimate we'll check what's under yours and explain your options, including how asbestos siding needs to be handled.

Should I pick asphalt shingle or standing seam metal?

It comes down to your house, your budget and how long you plan to stay. Architectural shingle is the common choice for capes and colonials and looks right on most streets here. Standing seam metal sheds snow quickly and suits low slopes, outbuildings and owners who want to set it and forget it. We'll walk you through both at your free estimate.

Do you tear off the old roof or go over it?

We look at what's up there before we recommend anything. Once the old layers come off, we inspect the deck and photograph it, so you know exactly what your new roof is going on top of. Covering up a problem you can't see is how small leaks turn into rotted sheathing.

Should I go with composite or pressure-treated wood?

It comes down to how much upkeep you'll put up with. Pressure-treated wood costs less up front, but it needs stain or sealer every couple of years to hold off cracking and graying. Trex and composite boards skip that chore and won't splinter. We price both on your written estimate so you can compare side by side before you decide.

Can you put new boards on my old frame?

Sometimes. If your joists, beams, posts and footings are solid and your ledger is flashed right, a resurface makes sense and saves you money. If we find rot or footings that have heaved, we'll show you photos and explain why new boards on that frame won't last. You make the call with the facts in front of you.

Do you do custom window sizes?

Yes. We install standard and custom units. Older Massachusetts homes, especially capes and colonials from the 1920s through the 1950s, often have openings that don't match today's stock sizes. We measure every opening during your free estimate and spell out on your written proposal which ones need a custom unit.

Can you replace windows without redoing my siding?

In most cases, yes. We work the new unit into your existing siding, flash the opening, and finish it with exterior trim and aluminum wrap. If we find rot in the sheathing or framing around the opening, we'll photograph it and tell you before we cover anything up.

What size gutters do you install?

We install 5-inch K-style aluminum gutters. It's the standard profile for most houses in Massachusetts, from capes to two-story colonials, and it handles the runoff from a typical residential roof well when every run is pitched correctly and the downspouts are placed where the water can get away.

Do you need to replace my fascia too?

Not always. We inspect the fascia behind your old gutters before anything new goes up. If the wood is sound, we hang on it. If it's soft or rotted, we'll show you and include the fix in your written estimate. Wrapping fascia in white aluminum keeps the wood dry for good.

Can you add exterior insulation without replacing my siding?

Not really. Continuous rigid insulation goes on over the sheathing, so whatever siding is on your house has to come off first. That's why we recommend it as part of a re-siding project. If your siding still has years left, we'll tell you that instead of selling you a tear-off.

How much will exterior insulation save on my energy bills?

We don't put a percentage on it, because every house is different and honest numbers depend on your heating system, windows, attic and habits. What we can say is that continuous insulation and a taped, sealed weather barrier cut the air leaks and cold spots you feel in winter.
